It was put into law by US President Joe Biden that the social media app TikTok can’t be sold or must be banned.

The US Congress passed a bill yesterday (April 23) that will ban TikTok in the US unless the Chinese company that owns the app, ByteDance, sells its US shares. It passed the House of Representatives three days before the vote.

The Weeknd’s ‘Blinding Lights’ Is Officially the Most Streamed Song on Spotify

Only a year after surpassing Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You” as the most-streamed song on Spotify, The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” has surpassed four billion plays.
Spotify tweeted on January 4 to confirm the record for Abel Tesfaye, and Variety confirms the four billion stream number with the artist’s representatives. He also has more monthly listeners than Ed Sheeran, with 113 million compared to 82.8 million. Taylor Swift was the most-streamed artist in 2023, with 26.1 billion streams throughout her catalog, while The Weeknd finished third.

ByteDance is closing Resso in India amid regulatory scrutiny; no plans to replace it with TikTok Music

TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, is shutting down its Resso streaming service in India and has no plans to bring TikTok Music to the country of 1.4 billion.
Resso’s India suspension was just recently brought to public attention by Moneycontrol, a Mumbai-based news outlet. Resso, which was designed to compete with Spotify, Apple Music, and others in emerging regions, abruptly discontinued its free tier in May of last year.

AI Music Generator Splash introduces Amazon Alexa skill, enabling custom song creation with voice prompts

Splash, an AI music creation platform, has officially introduced a talent for Amazon Echo devices that allows users to create personalized songs using voice prompts.
Today at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Splash, an Amazon-supported company, demonstrated the skill using only its own music library to train its AI model. According to a formal announcement message shared with DMN, the ability is already available on devices that support Alexa.
